Christmas Gifts: Video Games

Okay okay!  I know I know, why would I suggest video games (this one aimed towards females) when Call of Duty has taken over your boyfriend's life?  You'll just have to buckle in and tackle another tough winter break with your boyfriend glued to the boob tube (do people still even use this expression? lol).

So the obvious boring choices seem to be the same every year! Call of Duty, Call of Duty, and of course Call of Duty!  Honestly, these games are just rehashes of the previous with new map packs.  I call them map pack expansions.  Another military game in the scene is Battlefield 3.  This is arguably the better game of the two.  But, if the person you are buying a video game for is as dedicated as all the other kids on the block then he/she has already gone out and PURCHASED either game or both.

Xbox 360

So, let's say your significant other has the greatest system out there.  As far as exclusives go Gears of War 3 is your best bet!  This game, starting with the first Gears of War always sets standards.  It has one of the best graphics to date.  This is the conclusion to the series we all have come to love.  The game play is great, fast paced, and exciting.  The game play is also one of the best.  The Gears of War 2 multi-player was a tough pill to swallow because of the issues with one player being the host.  That turned away many players from what would have been one of the greatest multi-player experiences.  The great people at Epic Games decided to change that and add servers to the game experience.  Make sure they have this game in their game library for the holidays!



PS3
Sony is finally doing good by releasing some good exclusives.  Playstation has always had the weaker exclusives until now.  Their exclusives may even be better than the 360's.  UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION is the obvious choice here.  But, I would rather recommend you getting Batman: Arkham City which is an amazing game!  This is one of the best games of the year!  This is the sequel to the 2009 smash hit Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Arkham City builds on the previous game and does so beautifully.  I think you will get the better experience on the PS3 but you could also purchase this game for the Xbox 360.







Wii

The Wii seems to be uncool amongst the "cool" kids.  I personally love playing our Wii and the Mario classics.  Reminds me of when I was a young toddler, geek to be!  This game though, is not a Mario game but is made by Nintendo.  One of the best critically acclaimed games of this year is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.  This game isn't as gritty as TWILIGHT PRINCESS and does not have such a dark side to the story.  The game though is arguably the best Zelda game to date.  The environment is great and has an Avatar-esque theme to how Link gains his transportation.



3DS
Last, but not least, is the 3DS.  The 3DS has had a hard time gaining traction but it has finally started rolling.  It has pushed more systems then the OG DS and that is something Nintendo has been trying to accomplish.  The early library of games were pretty weak to begin with but Nintendo is starting to roll out the games.  You could get plenty of great games that are out on the market.  A couple of them are rehashes of N64 titles but the games are so great you cannot overlook them!  You can choose from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario 3D Land, Star Fox 64, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries, and etc.  The game to have though, is Mario Kart 7!  This is probably the best Mario Kart today (yes, even possibly beating Mario Kart: Double Dash).  The online play is great and so is local play.  You can race against eight different players either on wifi or with eight local players! You cannot go wrong with this game!!
