Why Tablets Aren't the Saviors We Were Hoping For

The iPad.  The tablet that started this whole craze about having a "productivity" tool in our hands which really isn't that productive.  Now, I don't have an iPad but I do own a Galaxy Tab.  With that being said, I have used an iPad (and I am not talking about the demo at Best Buy).  The iPad has many many more "tablet" apps than its Android Honeycomb rival. There are plenty of apps which take advantage of the nice 10.1 inch screen.  But really, what does this do that my cell phone and laptop don't do already?

NOTHING! That is what it does... nothing!  Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Tablet!  But sometimes I lug it around just to convince myself I need it.  Sure... during my Stat 250 class I can bring up the slides and follow along while not wasting paper.  That is great, but with this much power am I really looking at those slides (you be the judge)? Sometimes I go out of my way to use my tablet to again prove it was worth the $525.XX after taxes.  My laptop is perfect for the intense school work I have to do, because seriously, I will not be typing on a screen that big!  My cell phone does what my laptop does except with less features.  I need to view a PDF, Word Document, Email, my cell phone gets the job done.  Again, why do we need tablets?

Maybe for some entertainment purposes.  I love watching Breaking Bad on this thing while streaming Netflix. Gets the job done perfectly because my 4.52 inch Galaxy S II is too small and my laptop gets annoying because of the weight.  I guess my tablet will always be that device I would like to use but really never need it!

As far as the future I definitely see tablets replacing laptops but not anytime soon.  Do I regret buying it? Sometimes.  Would I buy it again? MOST DEF!   Now, with that being said... GO BUY A TABLET!

If you own a tablet what do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments below!
