Nokia Reigns Supreme As New Windows Phone Manufacturer
Nokia has placed most, if not all, of their chips on Microsoft’s Windows Phone. Well, all of those chips have started to pay off as Nokia is now at the top of all the Windows Phone manufacturers. After only one quarter in the game, they have been able to take the top spot which should be no surprise to anyone. Nokia was able to overcome HTC and Samsung with 33% market share according to Strategy Analytics. This should be great news, showing that the rest of the world still stands behind Nokia. Their push in the US should also help with the Lumia 900 rumored to release on AT&T this March. Read More...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Gets Bigger
A couple of days ago Samsung announced its Galaxy Tab 2, which of course was 7 inches. Well now, they have another Galaxy Tab 2… which has gained some screen real estate at 10.1. The LCD screen will have a resolution of 1280 x 600 and have a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, front VGA facing cam, and a 3mp shooter on the back. The specs seem a little lack-luster, especially the processor. It will have 3G with HSPA+ 21Mbps version and a WiFi version of course, Bluetooth 3.0, and a nice 7,000 mAh battery. It will come with a bar of Ice Cream Sandwich… TouchWiz flavored. You will get the usual 16GB and 32GB with expandable memory by SD card. No word on pricing or release date but Samsung would like to start the sales in March in the UK. Read More...

Inside Ghost Recon Video #1
Ubisoft has released a new video on how the third-person shooter will work. It demonstrates how the engine works and how they have used “over 2,500 animations on the main character alone” to get a more natural feel. It is more of a gameplay video showing off how the characters move through the environment. The motions look slick and uniform throughout the whole video. The running towards cover and running alone does give off a Gears-esque vibe. This should give us something different to look forward to, giving a push towards third-person games, which when implemented correctly, are a great deal of fun. Stay tuned for more!

A Blast From the Past: Windows Mobile
A blast from the past indeed. XDA developer Cotulla was able to run Windows Mobile 6.1 onto what looks like an HTC HD7. The WinMo seems to be an emulator which has been overlaid on top of Windows Phone 7. The OS functions even allowing you to play games. If you want to go back-t0-the future all you need to do is hit the back button and you are back into the safe confines of Windows Phone. Windows Mobile will show up as a program in the cards ”multitasking” view so that you can easily switch back. 3DS Finally Breaks Free, Also Sets New Record
The 3DS has received much praise, but much more criticism. Boggled down not by the market, but by people who said it just won’t succeed. Well, if Japan is any indication, the device is doing just the opposite of what predictions have been. The 3DS has managed to become the quickest console Nintendo has had to date, able to break 5 million purchases in just 52 weeks. The 3DS is one of the successor’s to the OG brick DS, which garnered this achievement after 56 weeks of its first initial sale. The 3DS was able to achieve this not only with a steeper price (and a well received price drop), but also within a market which is much more crowded. Of course, naysayers will say, “units sold to retailers does not count”, well, these are actual sales figures. Read More...

Mass Effect 3 Demo Impressions
Now that the Mass Effect 3 demo has hit XBL, PSN, and PC, you’ll finally have a chance to try out the new modes integrated into the series. The demo brings two modes, multiplayer and single player. This is only a tease of the game and how it is going to feel. We will be touching on the multiplayer a little bit here. From what I played, it is a fun but short-lived experience which doesn’t seem very rewarding, unlike other multiplayer games today. The experience was very short so not much to go off of.
Upon starting the single player portion you have access to 3 options of how you want the game to feel. You can choose action, which makes Shepherd nearly invincible, and your dialog options become cutscenes. You can choose to play in RPG mode, which allows you to customize combat, your character, and make plenty moral choices. And finally, you can play in story mode, which makes combat easy and allows you to fully customize the character. I played all three modes and found story mode to be the most enticing due to the depth of the game’s story. Not only that, but the enjoyement of breezing through battles using all of the great telekinetic type vanguard powers, not worrying about death at all. Read More...

Who? U
Winter; the time where people huddle up in a blanket at home and watch movies with loved ones after getting off work. Well, that may be true to some, but for others it is a chance to finally sit down and play through the games that become neglected due to unseasonably warm weather and school. Winter is the time where most people are indoors leading to the majority getting sick at some point and blaming it on the weather. Others have a different kind of bug, though. For those people a gaming pad or even a motion controller are their vices of choice in the winter months.
Here, we will be looking into the future of gaming. Nintendo graciously (and maybe unfortunately) revealed its console for the next generation of gaming during E3 2011. The name is even more controversial than its predecessor by adding another homophonic syllable to their already weird choice of “Wii”, thus making the Wii U. Along with the eccentric name choice, Nintendo did not actually show off the console during the trailer. Instead, the console’s controller was prominently displayed as a tablet-like device with a 6.5 inch screen that augmented the stylish and great looking Zelda game as the tech demo. Satoru Iwata later said that maybe the reveal should have been one of the console itself to dispel confusion between the controller and the gaming machine. Read More...
Did You Actually Think the Transformers Franchise Was Over?
Yes, expect Transformers 4 to hit theaters in the summer of 2014. Whether you hate the movie series or enjoyed it, the franchise is here to stay! Lorenzo di Bonaventura, series producer, confirmed at Toy Fair 2012 that Transformers 4 will be coming along with Michael Bay at the helm as the director. Not only that, but you can definitely expect a Transformers 5 as noted by Deadline. The movies will be shot separately and not back-t0-back as rumored. What is more interesting is that during the interview, Bonaventura mentions that it will be a reboot but continue with the storyline? He mentioned like Spiderman, and how he considers it a hybrid reboot? Who knows what he really meant because he says the story will continue. But, Deadline mentions that we can expect the movie to hit June 29, 2014, so mark that date on your calendar, either to watch the movie or to make sure you skip out. Read More...

The Due Process of Windows Store App Submitting Revealed
Microsoft is going all in on Windows 8 and its Windows Store. As of now, developers may check out Microsoft’s lengthy blog post as to exactly what the process is and how long it takes for approval. They say the process should take about 6 days to a week for approval because Microsoft is special and does do “full automation” on their services. By that we mean that Microsoft uses real people to help approve your “real” app. Oh, and be sure to think of your app’s name to reserve it. Last thing we all want is twenty YouTube apps that are named nearly the same thing (cough* Windows Phone). Read More...

Is Apple Testing an 8-inch iPad?
Steve Jobs is not only famous for building Apple back up from near-bankruptcy (with the help of Microsoft), but also for spewing famous “we will never” lines. While his quotes may have not been to that extent he did make sure he let the world know what he didn’t like. Steve Jobs was not fond of tablets smaller than 9.7-inches. While he believed that was the sweet spot, others begged to differ.
Well now, according to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently showing its suppliers designs of a smaller tablet. Of course, this is just rumor, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Apple try and compete with runaway successes such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Like everything else, stay tuned to find out more! Sony Had Plans For A Wii U Type Controller?
It seems that Sony may have had plans and patents for a touchscreen super controller way back before Nintendo. Sony’s version seems to have been intended as more of an augmented reality device that would create “an avatar on a mobile device such that it appears to overlay a competing user in the real world.” Maybe Sony had plans for us to walk around holding controllers and playing with virtual people. All this while pretending to shoot our friends and new players we come across. It could also be that these were early plans for what is now the PS Vita. Read More...
An'Droid' Teams Up With Drone, No Fruits in "Sights"
It should be no surprise to anyone that the military likes to stay on top of current tech. One of the biggest and fastest growing sectors in technology has been smart phones. So with all the different variations to choose from, the military had quite a task on its hands! But why has the government and military chosen the little green robot over the various fruits in the market (Apple, BlackBerry, Mango)?
One of the biggest factors is the OS (Operating System). Android is open source and can be manipulated to anything you want it to be, hell, you can make your own phone with your own personal OS running a-la Kindle Fire. The military has created a modified version of the Android OS which is being developed for multiple agencies and government contractors. The Army has been testing touch screen devices in various bases for about two years. The modified phone will allow officials to view classified documents over cellular networks. The Army also plans to ship out certified tablets for classified use. Read More...
