The 3DS has received much praise, but much more criticism. Boggled down not by the market, but by people who said it just won’t succeed. Well, if Japan is any indication, the device is doing just the opposite of what predictions have been. The 3DS has managed to become the quickest console Nintendo has had to date, able to break 5 million purchases in just 52 weeks. The 3DS is one of the successor’s to the OG brick DS, which garnered this achievement after 56 weeks of its first initial sale. The 3DS was able to achieve this not only with a steeper price (and a well received price drop), but also within a market which is
much more crowded. Of course, naysayers will say, “units sold to retailers does not count”, well, these are actual sales figures.
